Bourne & District Round table are gearing up for not only their largest event of the year but one of the largest events in Bourne.
Tickets are on sale now for Bourne Festival, a 3 day event that features fantastic live bands, great food and plenty of real ales to enjoy.
Bands announced so far include Nick Corney & The Buzzrats, Halo and Clutching at Straws.
In 2002 Bourne Round Table collaborated with The Queen’s Golden Jubilee committee to put on an event for the town of Bourne in Lincolnshire. Now in its 16th year Bourne Festival is continuing to grow.
Starting with a flatbed lorry for the bands and a few barrels of beer, the event has transformed over its life into one of the major events in the local area, now attracting over 10,000 guests over the three day event. The festival has raised an incredible £320,000 since 2002.
The festival boasts 80 real ales and 25 ciders, live music across all three days, a fun fair, craft stalls, various food concessions along with involvement from other groups in the town who run various stalls to assist with their own fund raising.
The festival may have grown but the core values have remained the same. To provide a low-cost family event that brings the town together with the profits donated back to the local area.
In the last 8 years they have donated £110,000 to local causes including a new motorcycle for Lincolnshire emergency blood bikes, a £10,000 pledge to Bourne2play who were raising funds to replace the main play park in the town, a £2,000 donation to help replace the roof of a local church and a defibrillator for St John Ambulance, the rest of our donations are made up of many smaller amounts going to a very wide range of causes, individuals, groups and organisations in the local area.
Paul Higgins, Chairman of Bourne & District Round Table said: “To put the event on, we spend a week setting up the site so it’s all ready to be open on the Friday. We have a large marquee so the event can be enjoyed rain or shine. We try and keep our cost down as much as we can. Bourne Festival has become our town’s largest community event, and we try and source all materials locally.”
Bourne Festival 2018 starts on Friday 1st June. Tickets are available from www.bournefestival.com
